Tossing Pearls Can Be Hazardous To Your Health

This past week, I was impressed by Washington Redskins quarterback, Robert Griggin the III's comments regarding the "tyranny of political correctness". How concise and accurate was R.G. III's observation. We do live under a suppressive media culture (most if not all) which appears to have no interest in honest dialogue nor the true investigation of facts. Recent examples of this suppression would be the Benghazi cover up and the blatant non-coverage of the Philadelphia abortion/murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell.

Why have we as a society become so afraid of truth? None of us should ever be afraid of truth because it leads to two very important and related things...freedom and Jesus. That being said, we should not be surprised by this form of tyranny, the suppression of truth, for it started soon after time began.

 The Apostle Paul wrote:
"The wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." (Romans 1:18-20, NIV)

Jesus said it this way:
"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." (John 3:19-21)

So we should not be surprised by the "tyranny of political correctness" because it is a natural human tendency to cover up and suppress the truth. It's neither a liberal nor a conservative phenomenon to control information and to judge others by what they say. It is simply human to obscure the facts.

How do we deal with the tyranny of the P.C. crowd and the "stupid and foolish" arguments they create?

When we are  tempted to be sucked into the trap of political correctness we should turn to the example of Jesus for our answers.  Jesus never took the bait of the PC crowd of His day. Instead Jesus answered his critics with a simple story (parable) that they could not understand, unless they were interested in seeking truth. The Devil (the "Father of Lies") tempted Jesus by perverting the Scriptures and asking taunting "what if" questions. Jesus spoke the correct Scriptures in reply, never dignifying the Devil's remarks or his stupid questions. When Jesus sent his disciples out to evangelize the towns of Israel he sent them with these instructions in regard to the PC crowd:
"I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves" (Matt.10:16, NIV).

And finally Jesus best advice to us is found in the Sermon on the Mount:
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."  (Matt.7:6, NIV)

Be careful where you toss your pearls!

Too Many Elephants

This last horrible and senseless murder of innocent civilians in Boston is just more evidence of a world view that has come to fruition. For decades now we have seen what a society looks like that has lost their moral compass, kicked the God of the Bible out of government, schools, and even from even being mentioned in public settings. We live in a culture of death. Our government is controlled by a party of death and its counter party embraces limited death. Our entertainment industries makes a good portion of their living propagating death, destruction, violence, and a perversity of what is good and moral.

We are not shocked at the approximate 54,000,000 infants that have been murdered behind closed medical doors in this country. In fact we look at those who are shocked as extremist! Genocide has already taken place in America that rivals the former Soviet Union and the current Chinese government. Our country already has doubled the amount of people killed under the former Socialist government of Nazi Germany.

We are outraged, and should be outraged, when we witness senseless murders in the recent killings at Newtown and Boston. What should we expect from several generations who have been anesthetized towards the death of another human being? Generations who have been fed an increasing diet through media and music of a distorted and unrealistic worldview.

The big elephant in the room is that, man, without the regeneration of God’s Holy Spirit is not evolving into a good and superior being.  Evil is real and truth is absolute. Guns, bombs, swords, sticks, clubs, bats, knives and whatever else people may use to hurt others are not the issue. Those things are inanimate objects incapable of doing harm unless they are used by someone who is evil. The real issue is the evil that resides in the human heart. There is no law that can overcome it, but there is a God who can transform it.
Here's the audio from my last sermon on mentoring: Every Timothy Needs A Paul. Tell me what you think.
